Important Update for Two-Team Clinics

Dear CBRL Families,

We have been informed by the Albemarle County Parks and Recreation Department that they have witnessed violations of social distancing by our players and coaches, and they have therefore suspended our privilege of conducting two-team clinics.  We are all disappointed by this turn of events and must adhere to the rules outlined by the County so we are able to use their fields for our programs.  The good news is that we have not been shut down entirely and we will make the necessary changes so that we may continue to operate our one-team clinics.

Safety must always come first when we manage our programs, and it is especially important when dealing with such a highly infectious disease like Covid-19.  We wish to reiterate our safety protocols so that parents, players, volunteers, and board members can help ensure the safety of each and every one of us who comes to the field for any of our events:

  1. Players should be screened at home regularly for illness and should be kept home if they are sick or exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19.
  2. All players, coaches, and volunteers will be screened and temperatures will be taken prior to entering the ballpark.  Anyone who fails our screening protocol or who exhibits a fever will be denied entry to the ballpark.
  3. Players should bring an adequate supply of fluids and a facial covering with them to every clinic.
  4. Players are not to share any equipment, including catcher's gear.  Fist bumps, high fives, and touching contact as well as the chewing of gum or eating of sunflower seeds is currently prohibited.
  5. Players are expected to keep their equipment along the fence at the designated areas marked by tape.  Players are required to maintain 10 feet of distance between each other at all times and can accomplish this by staying near these designated tape marks on the fence and in the bleachers when they are not out in the field participating in drills and skills development.   Coaches will design and implement drills that keep players physically distanced from each other.
  6. Spectators are not permitted in the ballpark until we have been cleared to play games.  When or if the League gets this clearance, one spectator per player will be allowed.  Any spectators in the ballpark will be required to wear a face-cover at all times, and maintain the regulated and specified social distances.

We appreciate your continued support of our league, especially during this challenging time.  We are here to answer your questions.  If you see violations of safety protocols or distancing requirements, please contact us immediately.

Sincerely,

CBRL Board of Directors
