Although we saw a lot of rain today, we are still planning to play all games on schedule tomorrow. For instances when we have to postpone games or close fields, please refer to our hotline: 434-878-0712. The hotline will be the first method we update in case of schedule changes. We will also do our best to post updates to the home page of our website and our Facebook page. We have extremely dedicated and hard-working coaches who go to extra lengths to make sure the field is safe and playable for each game. The League will err on the side of getting games in. There may be circumstances where teams report to the field but are unable to play. Experience has taught us that cancelling early can be problematic, so we err on the side of optimism.
The Charlottesville Babe Ruth League is a 100% Volunteer-Run youth sports organization. The fees we collect for registration cover about 1/3 of the total costs to run the season, so to keep fees as low as possible for everyone, we require that all families contribute to the league. All registered families have been assigned up to two (2) games of concessions duty (see below for full season schedule), and the League requires two other volunteer tasks during the season. You may opt out of these supplemental duties for a $50 donation to the League. You may not opt out of concessions duty. We offer many options for giving back to the league including helping on Field Improvement Day, lining the field prior to games, operating the scoreboard during games, and bathroom cleaning. You may also opt in to extra concessions duties if you wish. Thank you to those who have already given time to the league. We will manage all of our game-related volunteer duties as well as our concessions schedule using SignUp Genius.The various links for sign ups are listed below, and can be found on our Volunteer Opportunities web page. When you report for your volunteer duties, be sure to sign in so that we can credit you for your work completed. There will be a sign in notebook in the Concessions Stand, one in the women's bathroom, and one in the press box. We appreciate everyone's time and efforts. These value-added tasks help make the on-field experience for all our kids that much more special.
